Performing Arts

Last Term saw two weeks of continuous concerts in the Music Department and we were delighted to share what our students had done over the last semester with parents and friends. Firstly we kicked off with our Year 7/8 concerts, featuring the students who had learnt an instrument in their music classes this semester. The students performed in small groups then came together as a band. We had four Year 7 and 8 bands performing over two concerts, along with HONK and the Year 8 Rock Band who both showed what can be achieved bycontinuing to learn your instrument. Next was the VCE's turn, with a lunchtime concert put together by our music leaders, Jacque and Amy. An enthusiastic crowd supported our performers. Many thanks to Shelby, Esther, Giulia, Julia, Vanessa and Glen for keeping us entertained. Our Year 10 music class featured at a terrific lunchtime concert supported by a full room of animated audience members. Many thanks to Mr Vague for his fantastic work preparing and supporting all the Year 10 musicians. Finally we had our soirees: concerts which featured solos by students learning an instrument at school. It’s been two years since we’ve had live soirees, so for many students it was their first one. Forty students performed over two nights and we were treated to agreat variety of music and instruments. Well done to all performers and many thanks to friends, parents and carers for supporting them.
