St.Vincent de Paul

Thank you to all the generous families who donated to our St. Vincent de Paul drive for goods and groceries.  We had many boxes stacked with foods and toiletries which were sent to our local branch for Vinnies.  We celebrated mass on Friday 3rd June at the Town Hall and I thank all staff and students who made it such a great occasion.  Father Brian as usual, lead us in prayer and opened the scripture up for us through his homily.  We are so lucky to have him as our chaplain as he relates so well to our community.

The following week we celebrated the feast of Pentecost when the Holy Spirity came upon the disciples and gave them the courage to go out and spread the word of God.  The chapel was packed for our lunch time celebration and I thank the celebrations Committee for their leadership at this liturgy as well as the Solidarity Mass.

I hope you all had a great, much needed break and I hope this time with family and friends over the school holidays has provided some peace, family connection and rest for our students.

Congratulations to Sister Brigid Arthur and Sister Angela for their Queen's Birthday Honour for their work against child labour. They are tireless workers for justice and an inspiration to our community. Here is a link to a wonderful article on Sister Brigid.

We would also like to promote the work of ACRATH - Australian Catholic Religious Against the Trafficking of Humans. Sister Louise Cleary is heavily involved with this group and any awareness you would like to have on the topic can be found on their website as well as any donations which would be gratefully received.
