P-4 Art

with Cynthia Jose and Linda Britton

The start of the term for the Art Room has had a focus on Mother’s Day and making a gift for a special person.

Prep students made necklaces focusing on patterns and practising their threading skills. This term they will be learning about how culture influences art, and will be experimenting with pattern, shape and colour.

Yr1 students made a Mother’s Day gift with symmetrical designs. This term they are learning about Dutch culture and how symmetry, pattern and colour is used in Dutch artworks.

Yr 2 students used the press and lift technique to create a pattern on modelling clay to make a pendant as a Mother’s Day gift. This term they will be investigating Ancient Greek art and different techniques to explore printmaking.

Year 3 students are studying Henri Matisse-inspired abstract art and are being introduced to organic and geometric shapes. They will combine these to create designs.
