LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP DAY

In conclusion to the Summer Interschool sport games that are played during the term, there is a Lightning Premiership day.  It was held at Mentone Playing Fields, Keysborough and Springers Indoor Centre. This is where the students are able to play against schools in the Cheltenham district again, in their chosen sport.  Teeball, Hot Shots, Cricket and Volleyball. There is an ‘A’ pool and a ‘B’ pool. In the ‘A’ pool the winning team then has the opportunity to play in the next level called ‘Division’ and play against other schools in various districts. The winning team then goes on to play at ‘Region’ level and then the winning team from this plays at ‘State’ level. If playing in ‘B’ pool this is an opportunity to keep learning and practising skills of the game. It is always a fun day where CEPS can meet other friends from other schools and show great sportsmanship and encourage their team mates. These teams could not go ahead without the support and help from teachers and volunteer parents that help coach and supervise each team.

Thank you to our wonderful helpers and congratulations to all the teams!

6A BOOK REVIEWS

The grade 6's have been reading the book Ungifted by Gordon Korman this term. Read on for some pieces of work and reviews of the story:

Ungifted Review By Yizhe and Chase

Ungifted is a novel by Gordon Korman. The story is told with chapters of alternating perspectives. The plot revolves around Donovan Curtis, a troublemaker that gets wrapped up in a major prank gone wrong. The book is full of surprises and cliffhangers. Although the tone is serious, the author also included humour. The characters seem so realistic like the book is alive. It had awesome plot twists and dramatic comic relief. The message or moral of the story is not to pretend to be someone else you're not. We recommend this book to all readers who are looking for a realistic fiction book to read for fun.

Ungifted by Gordon Korman, is one of the most amazing, full of action books that you could possibly read. there are so many cliff-hangers that will surely make you want to read on. It is funny, heart melting and is sure to make you happy. I would recommend it to people who love a book full of adventure and action. You must read it.

MOTHER'S DAY

PLASTIC BOTTLE COLLECTION

The Environment Leaders have been working in the garden to make our school more sustainable.  As winter is coming up, we need a way to keep our seedlings warm so they have a chance to grow. Our old greenhouse is in need of repairs and we have come up with a sustainable way to fix it.  We are collecting empty 1.25L and 2L  soft drink bottles to be recycled and used as the walls and roof of our greenhouse.

If you have any empty bottles to contribute, there will be a collection box at the office in the last week of Term 1 (4th – 8th April) and first week of Term 2 (26th-29th April)
