Assistant Principals

In addition to the focussed teaching and learning happening in classrooms, the recent weeks at Ringwood Secondary College have been extremely busy, with many students and staff engaging in many activities, events and excursions! Below are some of the recent activities and events students have been engaging and participating in:

  • Division Swimming
  • Summer Sport
  • House Activities
  • Year 9 Melbourne Zoo Fieldwork
  • Year 8 Yarra River Fieldwork
  • Year 8 Gumbuya World
  • Year 11 Geography Fieldwork
  • Year 9 Phillip Island Adventure Camp
  • Mental Health Carnival
  • Harmony Day
  • Senior Production auditions and music ensemble practices
  • RSC Car Show
  • Various lunchtime clubs and activities

This vast offering of events and activities highlights how Ringwood Secondary College is working to engage and connect with all students, along with providing the opportunity for experiences that have been missing from schools due to COVID-19 in previous years. These events are not possible without the hard work and dedication from the many school leaders, teachers and support staff. We are very fortunate to have so many staff at the College committed to creating these opportunities where students can learn, grow and develop both personally and socially.

One of these events that people may not be as familiar with is Harmony Day. Harmony Day provides our College community an opportunity to celebrate and promote tolerance, inclusiveness and the right of everyone to belong. Ringwood Secondary College currently has 150 students from a refugee-background and 15 international students, not to mention the many other cultural backgrounds of staff and students that comprise our school community. Some of the activities organised by the Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CALD) Prefects and student leaders included cultural dance performances and an art competition based on the themes of culture, home and belonging. This day was a great way to recognise and celebrate inclusivity and diversity at Ringwood Secondary College.

With only a couple of weeks remaining in Term 1, there a lot of energy expended by both students and staff in what has been another challenging term. As we approach the end of term, it is important for students to be on top of their workload. We encourage parents and carers to assist in this area with the use of Compass. Students and parents/carers are all able to regularly check Compass Learning Tasks, submission of work and can view the valuable feedback given by teachers. All students should be aiming to complete all required work to the best of their ability, so a well-deserved break over the holidays can be enjoyed.

I wish everybody well as we enter the last two weeks of Term 1!
