National Simultaneous Storytime - 11am Wednesday 25th May

St Raphael's is participating in this year's NSS.

National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

Each year a picture book, written and illustrated by Australians is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, homes and children's facilities all over the country and the world.

Now in its 22nd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

NSS aims to:

  • promote the value of reading and literacy,
  • promote the value and fun of books,
  • promote an Australian writer and publisher,
  • promote storytime activities in libraries and communities around the country,
  • and provide opportunities to involve parents, grandparents, the media and others to participate in and enjoy the occasion.

This year's book is "Family Tree".

Written by much-loved award winning Australian singer/songwriter and children’s book author Josh Pyke, renowned for his unique and wonderful storytelling and lyricism and illustrated by award winning picture book creator Ronoyjoy Ghosh.

Family Tree is a heartfelt celebration of family, community and the seasons of life to cherish and share.
