School Theme: LIGHT of HOPE

Dear Members of the St Raphael's school community,

The handling of Covid outbreaks amongst the students and staff has been extremely challenging over the last two weeks.

We thank all the parents who continue to conduct RAT tests on their children and keep them at home if they display any symptoms.

It is still a very uncertain time, and our staff are working together to provide the best possible care and education for the children throughout this time. In addition, many of our staff are impacted by having their children who attend other schools affected by Covid cases in their schools and local communities.

Casual Relief Teachers are currently in high demand, and we will continue to do all we can to look after your children whilst they are at school. We encourage you to continue to follow the current protocols and procedures to keep the entire school community safe and healthy.

It has been wonderful to start meeting with our new parents of 2023 Foundation children. We look forward to welcoming the children and their families into our school community later this year. Unfortunately, at this stage, we now have a waiting list for Foundation students in 2023, so we urge all existing families who may have forgotten to submit their child's enrolment forms to please do so ASAP to avoid missing out on a place for your child in Foundation next year.

As a sign that we are slowly returning to some sense of normality, we are thrilled that our Year 5/6 children will be attending their Urban Camp in Melbourne CBD from next Wednesday 25/05 to Friday 27/05. The children will stay in a fantastic accommodation facility in the Melbourne CBD and use public transport to visit many of Melbourne's landmark monuments, buildings and significant sites. We hope that the children have a great time and enjoy these fun-filled and memorable opportunities that they have been deprived of over the last few years.

I thought I'd share this personal news with you regarding yesterday's announcement of The Educator Australia's 50 Most Influential Educators for 2022.

Unbeknown to me, my colleagues and staff members nominated me.

It was a lovely, unexpected surprise and is very humbling.

Kind regards,

Damian
