Call to Action inspried by Guerrilla Girls

A huge thank you to our Arts captain Sarah Arquiza and Ms Zoe Keystone for working with the Arts committee to plan this wonderful call to action in homage to the Guerrilla Girls and to mark International Women’s Day. Our action focused on equal rights for female artists and equal representation for women in galleries. Students donned gorilla masks laser cut by our art technician Eleonora, held placards and handed out bananas as they marched throughout the school grounds. Thank you to everyone that was involved, it was an amazing day.

A little bit about the Guerrilla Girls...

Guerrilla Girls is an anonymous group of feminist, female artists devoted to fighting sexism and racism within the art world. The group formed in New York City in 1985 with the mission of bringing gender and racial inequality into focus within the greater arts community. The group employs culture jamming in the form of posters, books, billboards, and public appearances to expose discrimination and corruption. They also often use humour in their work to make their serious messages engaging. They are known for their "guerilla" tactics, hence their name, such as hanging up posters or staging surprise exhibitions.

Students in Year 10 Studio Arts: Photography have been exploring digital photography and digital editing and manipulation. Students took a series of portraits of their peers and then recreated the Harris Shutter effect and Anaglyph effect digitally through Adobe Photoshop. The results were fantastic, here is a selection of the work.

Makers Market at the Strawbale Concert

What a wonderful night!!! Thank you for supporting our young artists and designers by purchasing a print, greeting card set or rope basket at our first Makers Market for 2022.

We cannot wait to have another market and it was so much fun having the Green Team along, selling their native plants. Proceeds raised on the night will be used to support extra curricular programs in the Visual Arts & Design.
