Term One Highlights

Prep
The Preps have enjoyed establishing their concepts of number and shape this term. They have engaged in exciting outdoor learning lessons that aim to show math in the real world through hands-on activities. We are looking forward to their continual development in Term 2!
Ms Kahu, Ms James and Mrs Chue
Year 1W
We had a very special Harmony Day in 1W. We did lots of activities that had us work together including our Harmony Day Height Chart in Maths and our GIANT colouring in for the afternoon, where each child coloured in a page and then we put it altogether on the window. Check out the picture of our awesome work!!
In our Maths lessons, we have started looking at measurement and one of our introduction activities was to cut, colour and order the crocodiles from LONGEST to SHORTEST. Some of the children also took the crocodiles home – so don’t be alarmed if tiny paper crocodiles show up in your house .
Have a great holidays and see you next term.

Hindi
Namaste Wyndham Christian College parivaar (family).
This term, Year 1-7 have been focusing on learning the Devanagri alphabet. This has culminated in creating beautiful Indian Easter cards. Here is a snapshot of some of the the Year 1/2 cards. We are so proud that students have hand written these in the Devanagri script! Keep it up, children!
Our Preps have been learning new Hindi words through Fairy Tales and songs. Their favourite book this term was 'Cinderella' with an Indian twist! As I read these stories for students, I substitute some English words with Hindi words. We then write these on the board and explore them further. This assists them in remembering these Hindi words by making connections. Stay tuned for more news next time. Have a blessed holiday!
Ms Massey
Humanities
This term highlight for Humanities, in the unit Factors that change environments, Year 5 students were learning about the extent of change in an environment over time and how to evaluate the positive and negative effects. After researching on a biome of their choice, the students had to mentally build a settlement and take note of the changes they were making to their biome during the building process. These changes then had to be visually presented on a map.
