Year Five/Six News

Welcome back for term 2!

We started this term off with quality examples of student leadership within our 5/6 cohort. On Tuesday we held an ANZAC ceremony at the cenotaph in Miner’s Rest where students led the service and read their own writing pieces to the school community. On Friday at our open day, many of our 5/6 students helped by collecting younger groups of students and taking them to their rotations for the day, as well as welcoming guests to our assembly. This week we are back to a full week of learning. We are starting an author study on Jackie French in reading, collecting and analysing data in numeracy, writing persuasive pieces in writing and starting our unit on the Gold Rush in Integrated Studies. We can’t wait to go to Sovereign Hill in week 8! A reminder to get the excursion notes back to school ASAP.
