From Principal Steve  - Naplan 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week, our students in Grade 3 and Grade 5 will sit the NAPLAN test. Please see below for some general information that was also shared in Term 1.

Overview

This year, NAPLAN moves to online testing for all students. The only paper based test will be the Grade 3 writing test.

While we don’t want students to stress & lose sleep over NAPLAN testing, we do want students to do their best and take the assessment seriously. The NAPLAN results are used to:

  • strengthen individual student & grade level learning
  • strengthen our curriculum across the school
  • compare our school performance with other schools

This video provides a 2 minute overview of the new online format. It is worth noting that the new tests are semi-adaptive which means they respond to your child’s ability, enabling them to do their best.

Practice and Preparation

It is important students are prepared to answer questions in the way they are presented in the test. For example, being familiar with multiple choice questions. This website is a public demonstration site and contains sample tests for students in both Grade 3 and Grade 5. Our teachers have been using this site to help students become familiar with the question formats and online look and feel of the test. We encourage parents to also do the same with their children.

We also conducted practice tests in Term 1 which supported students and teachers to understand the look and feel of the test, question types and how to login and complete the test.
