Early Learning Centre

For the last four weeks each Tuesday the ELC has enjoyed the company of Di Chen and Xu Dang from Beijing, China. Di and Xu are part of the Celebrating Cultural Diversity Program. This program is part of the inclusive commitment to all students studying in the School of Education at the University of South Australia. It offers Pre-service Teachers the opportunity to experience first hand what an Australian educational setting looks like, and to learn from teachers, staff and children about what is expected of Pre-service Teachers on their professional experience placements.

On their last day they sang “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” in Mandarin and the ELC children accompanied in English. We then shared iconic Australian “Tic Toc” biscuits.

Xu and Di will be continuing with their study for a further two years and then make the decision whether to stay in Adelaide or return to Beijing. We are so grateful for their time with us and the beautiful gifts they gave us, which Xu and Di’s mother made.
