Primary School News

Our Year 2s busy working on their 'WeDo Lego Robots' STEM project

From the Primary School

I read somewhere recently that School Newsletters are read by a diminishing number of people and those who do, do it in a diminishing amount of time (3 – 4 minutes maximum). This tells us a few things, namely what we write is often less than interesting and probably even more pertinent, everyone leads extremely busy lives. However communication is so important and this is at least one way of disseminating information. Facebook and other Social Media might be explored too for future sharing. Feedback from you would be gratefully accepted.

Our Year 3 and 5 (along with Year 7 and 9) boys undertook the NAPLAN Online for the very first time. 23 Catholic Schools “piloted” this form of completing the tests and due to the great organisation and preparation from Mrs Jo West, Mr Carl Todman, Mrs Stephanie La Forgia and Mrs Kyrstale Petruzzella the testing went ahead without any technical problems. Interestingly most boys enjoyed the electronic version of NAPLAN rather than the paper version. I do like to let parents know that NAPLAN is a national testing system and is only one way of looking at Literacy and Numeracy levels and does not take into account children undertaking the tests that may have learning difficulties. Results are usually prepared in September or October and will be shared with families.

Please note that I am on leave from 1 June to (and including) 8 June.
