HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL 

The swimming carnival was VERY fun! Everybody got many points for completing events, and everybody was cheering on their house and having a great time with their friends.

In the end the total scores were: in 4th place was Orrong with 145 points, in 3rd place was Furneaux with 180Loch was 2nd with 254 points and in 1st place with 304 points was Carrington.

 

All participants were really good sports. The strokes people competed in were:

50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 25m/50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and a whole lot of fun relays too. These included things like: noodle relays, buoyant ball relays, kick board relays and much more. For some it was a great first swimming carnival and for some an enjoyable last. This is the last house sports carnival for the year which means there must be an overall house sports winner

The winner for all the sport events in the year is

  • In 4th place with 933 points is Orrong
  • In 3rd place with 950 points is Furneaux
  • In 2nd place is Carrington with 1112 points
  • which means coming out in 1st place is Loch!!!

We hope that everyone has had a great year and has had lots of fun competing in all the house sport events.

NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM 

Lots happening as always in Art. The kiln is up and running and Miss Zoe is currently doing the 6th firing of Years 1&2 art work. Students will start bringing their Georgia O’Keeffe ceramic masterpieces home in the next couple of weeks. The masterpieces are extremely fragile and purely decorative. Each piece has been twice fired – bisque fired first and a glaze fired second. Miss Zoe thinks that students are extremely surprised with their results.

 

 

Students in Foundation are learning about Louise Bourgeois’ Spider, combining printmaking and ink drawing to recreate the spider. As part of the introduction to the Spider, each class wrote a poem about a spider:  

 

Finally, Years 3&4 wrap up their painting studies with a challenge. Their challenge: to recreate a painted version of Bunjil the Eagle without using paintbrushes. There are some pretty awesome results. Many students will start to bring their landscape painting projects home over the next week. Be sure to keep an eye out in school bags for a painting of the legend of Bunjil.
