Around The School - Mr O'Toole, Assistant Principal

This term is certainly going quickly. Thus, it means Year 6 are getting ready to enter a new chapter of their educational journey. Our transition to the various high schools has begun for our students this term which is an exciting time for each of them.

Today,  our Year Six students who will be attending McCarthy Catholic College in 2020 will have their Orientation Day. The students will experience a typical day in the life of a secondary student at the College. The day will include taking part in various lessons, familiarisation  with the layout of the school as well as an introduction to the routines of a high school timetable. Thank you to the staff at McCarthy Catholic College for their co-ordination of the day’s activities.

On Tuesday 10 December our Year 5 students will present speeches to our school community outlining their leadership capabilities for St Joseph's in 2020. This is a great opportunity for every child in our school, as they will be delivering their speeches in front of our entire school community as well as teachers, parents and friends. This event provides a chance for our students to think about what makes a good leader not just in words but through their actions and how they can represent St Joseph's in a dignified manner at all times.

We wish our Year 5 students all the best in their leadership aspirations for 2020.

As I said earlier the end of the year is approaching and there is still so much work to do. One of those activities is a special moment when as a faith community we celebrate a Graduation Mass for our departing Year 6 students.

The Mass will be a wonderful occasion and highlight the many and varied talents and achievements of a truly great group of young men and women as they take another step in their life journey.

Summer is here and the weather is really warming up, it is really important for the students to bring their hat to school and be wearing it whenever they are outside. It is also an expectation that the students are wearing the correct full summer uniform. We ask for parent support in reminding your child to wear the correct uniform every day.

Once again please keep those people who have been affected by the drought and bush fires in your thoughts and prayers.
