Year 5 Leadership Speeches

Next week we will be voting for our school Leaders 2020.  Year 6 is an important year and each student is considered to be a leader.  As such, they are expected to act as a role model for the younger students in their attitude and behaviour.  Year 5 students will give their leadership speeches in alphabetical order on Tuesday 10 December at 9.00am in the church.   Parents, carers and friends are welcome to attend.

P & F Association News

The P&F's next meeting will be in February next year.

School Uniform 

Students should now be wearing their summer uniform with short socks. We remind parents to please make sure that all uniform items are labelled with their child's name.

Kindergarten Commencement Date 2020  

Kindergarten will commence school on Wednesday 5 February 2020 following Best Start assessments on Friday 31 January, Monday 3 February and Tuesday 4 February.

Commencement Date 2020

School will commence for all students in Years 1 - 6 on MONDAY 3 FEBRUARY 2020. The delayed start is due to pupil free days the week before to enable staff to be fully moved  into the new building.

Parking Reminder

Le Pruneau have asked us to remind you about parking in their car park at pick up times and to kindly refrain from doing so. We understand with the amount of contractors presently on site parking close to school is difficult. We ask for your patience and vigilence in keeping our students safe when parking around the school zone.

Inter-Schools' Chess Day

St Joseph’s School hosted our Inter Schools' Chess Day on Friday 29 November at McCarthy Catholic College with 76 students in attendance. Students from St Nicholas and St Edward’s Tamworth, St Michael’s Manilla,  St Xavier's Gunnedah,  St Joseph’s Quirindi all participated in our competition. Congratulations to St Joseph’s Tamworth winning by eight points from St Nicholas Tamworth  and St Xavier's Gunnedah whom finished on the same points.  Thank you to  McCarthy Catholic College for allowing the competition to be held there.  Many thanks to everyone  involved in the successful running of this day and to the parents who provided morning tea for our visitors. This was a fabulous day for students in our area and great fun for all involved. Special thanks must go to Mrs Hannaford for her help with scoring.

Congratulations to our school team who displayed great sportsmanship and collegiality towards the visiting schools.

Final Results for the day are as follows:

Winners were:  Charlie McKenzie St Joseph’s Tamworth 

Joint Runners Up were: Peter Lanaja St Joseph’s Tamworth and Lucas Sardinha St Xavier's Gunnedah

Third Place : Archie McCormack St Xavier's Gunnedah

Encouragement Awards: Juliah White and  Zoe Halcroft, St Joseph’s Tamworth . On behalf of the St Joseph's Chess Club, a special thank you must go to Christopher MacPherson, Joshua McKenzie, Ed Heap, Rose Honnery, Melissa Whetton and their team of helpers for assistance on the day.

Congratulations to the winners of the Chess Raffle - 1st prize to Monique Hutton , 2nd prize Courtney Lyon, 3rd prize  Monique Hutton, 4th prize Sophia Taylor.

 

Year 6 Graduation

Year 6 Graduation Mass will be held on Friday 13 December in St Patrick's Church at 9.30am followed by morning tea for Year 6 students and their parents. After morning  tea Year 6 will travel to Centrepoint to see a movie. Parents are reminded to return their child's permission slip  to the office.

School Fees 

Fees for Term 4 are due this Friday, the 6th December, 2019.   If you have concerns about paying your account on time,  please contact the school.   Parents and carers using our direct debit facility please check your nominated amount to ensure fees are covered.   Please contact the office if you need to adjust.   

Presentation Night

Presentation Night will be on Tuesday 17 December at TRECC commencing at 7pm sharp. All students will travel to TRECC on Tuesday 17 December to attend a rehearsal departing school at approximately 9.15am and returning at 12.30. Permission notes have been sent home and parents are asked to sign the permission slip and return to school.

Clothing Pool & Lost Property

If you need extra uniform items, don't forget to contact the clothing pool.  We do have a variety of sizes for sale.   Thank you to all the families and people connected to the school for their donations throughout the year.    

We have a basket of jumpers, jackets and other uniform items without names on them.  If not claimed by Friday at the end of each week, they will be washed and put into the Clothing Pool.
