Principals Message

To All Our Hampstead Families,

I want to sincerely thank you for the patience and support you have all shown over the past few very unsettling weeks.

We are certainly all in unchartered waters and we are all experiencing the effects in various ways.

From a school perspective we are entering a different way of learning.

Next term we all need to be prepared for our students to learn in both on line and face to face mediums.

Our staff have been working together to develop on line and hard copy packages of learning to ensure that each and every one of our students has every opportunity to continue with their learning during the next few months.

If you have internet access at home it is essential that you join with your child/ren’s class learning app. In our school that is:

  • Class Dojo: room 13,14,12,16
  • Seesaw: room 1, 2, 3, 5,6,7,17

Whole school information and communication can be made through:

  • Skoolbag app
  • SMS

Students currently undertaking Home Learning are already accessing these apps and sending messages back to their teacher. It is critical that we maintain these connections for the wellbeing of our children.

Next week teachers will be continuing to plan learning opportunities for students – these will be updated on a weekly basis during term 2 and students learning at home will be expected to undertake these regularly.

We will be adding a HOME LEARNING page to our school website – this will be a space where you can see daily timetables, learning programs and activities in which to participate for each class.

We are also compiling take home learning packs for those students who do not have access to internet or have a suitable device at home. These will be posted on a weekly basis to homes of students who are learning at home. Staff will connect regularly with families and students via phone calls to answer any questions or just to “touch base” with students and families.

The main message here is that learning programs will continue throughout term 2. We are committed to maintaining connections with our students and families during these trying times.

We know how important parent /carer support will be for students. We appreciate that families are already supporting students learning at home by allowing them time and space to use a device or to complete hard copy learning activities.

We are required by the Department for Education to inform them of which options families will be taking for learning during term 2.

We will be sending SMS today to all families with the following message:

A.      My children will be learning from home.

B.      My children will be learning at school.

We ask you to reply via SMS with either A or B

I am looking forward to seeing and hearing about all the learning that will be happening for our students over the coming term.

Keep yourselves and your loved ones safe.
