What's Happening

CSEF
The CSEF is an annual payment to the school to be used towards camps, sports and/or excursion expenses for the benefit of eligible students.
Primary school student rate: $125
Please read the notice below to check on your eligibility.
CSEF forms are available at the office and should be returned by 30 June 2018.
Please note:
Parents (including guardians) no longer need to submit a new application form each year in most cases.
Parents only need to submit an application form in 2018 if any of these changes have occurred since 2017:
- New student enrolments: students who have started or changed schools in 2018 or if the parent did not apply for CSEF at the school in 2017
- Changed family circumstances: such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing at the school in 2018.
BOOK CLUB NEWS
Book Club catalogues have been handed out this week! Keep an eye out for great value for money books starting at just $2.00.
Issue #1 ordering online will close by Monday 12th February 2018.
Parents order and make payments online using the LOOP System (Linked Online Ordering & Payment). Over 98% of parents are using this system and this streamlines our processing so that books can be distributed faster.
This year all orders are to be made online.
If you have any questions about this please talk to
Amanda in the IRC.
Scholastic Book Club is very important to our library – providing us with thousands of dollars in reward money to spend on books for our collection.
As our orders are being ordered online now, parents will be happy to know about two new changes to LOOP (Linked Online Ordering & Payment).
At the Order Review step, LOOP customers will now be advised how much they have saved (price versus RRP) and how many rewards their order has earned the school. A hover message appears to explain how savings are calculated. It is always nice to know how much you have saved and lovely to know how much you have helped out the school with rewards points!
Another change is having an option to have GIFT items shipped to your home for a $4.95 handling charge even if the school order has not been placed or still open. If you are planning for birthdays and Christmas, this could be a great option.
On behalf of our school, we would like to thank students and families for supporting our Scholastic Book Club.

SECOND HAND UNIFORMS
Thank you to those people who have donated second hand uniforms. At the moment we have plenty, so until further notice, donations are no longer required.
CONGRATULATIONS
Ex-student Kurtis Mathews graduated from MPS in 2010 and has recently been named in the Australian diving team to represent Australia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He has been selected for 3 events, including men's 1m springboard, men's 3m springboard and men's 3m synchronised springboard.
Kurtis currently lives in the USA where he attends Texas A and M University and dives for the university.
In an email to the school, Kurtis's mum, Keryl, wished to thank everyone at MPS, noting that the staff and teachers were very supportive and encouraging towards his sporting achievements, particularly physical education teacher at the time, Debby Wall and his fantastic grade 6 teacher Phillip Cook.
We hope that everyone can cheer Kurtis on at the games in April!
