Senior School Learning

Introducing Tippy!

The senior team would like to welcome a new assistant into our classrooms. Tippy, Miss Child’s kelpie will be working in classrooms assisting students with their learning. She will be listening to students read aloud, practice their maths, yard duty assistant and much more. If you see Tippy around the school please feel free to come and say hello to her.

Midterm Assessments

This week senior students have been busy completing a number of midterm assessment tasks. Students have been utilising their iPads to access online tests while using their whiteboards for working out. In writing all senior students are currently in the process of completing their moderated writing piece, a sample in which all students are given the same writing stimulus. We have been very proud of all students' hard work and perseverance throughout these tasks.

Personal Learning

The past few weeks in Personal Learning has been spent exploring the Zones of Regulation. Senior students now understand the four Zones of Regulation and the emotions and behaviours that fit into each zone. For the next few weeks, students will spend time discovering 'alerting' and 'calming' strategies that they can use when they are in the Blue Zone, Yellow Zone or Red Zone. Students will be able to use their new strategies during class time, recess/lunch and at home, to come back to the Green Zone!

Art Smocks

A reminder to parents and students to please bring an art smock or old shirt to school to protect clothing during art classes. The materials we use can sometimes be a little messy and we're sure parents would appreciate not having school uniform permanently stained! Art smocks will remain in the art room and be returned at the end of the year.
