Dunlop Reflection

This month we had the inaugural Dunlop Cup during our first extended homegroup of the term, where all seven Dunlop tutor groups competed for the coveted Dunlop Cup in the following events; everyone’s favourite game tunnel ball, the always entertaining egg and spoon race, and the classic three legged race. It was held in the College hall where there was music, purple balloons for cheering, and a lot of laughing amongst tutor groups. Third place was tied between three homerooms; Dunlop 5, Dunlop 6, and Dunlop 7. Dunlop 4 narrowly lost out to Dunlop 3 who were crowned the winners. Congratulations to Dunlop 3, we are looking forward to challenging you for the Cup in term two! Thank you to our Cluster Coordinators Amanda Matas and Jenna Potts for organising such a great competition.
The Dunlop cluster has also taken cluster sport by storm this term. We started our ultimate frisbee competition against Mackillop where they boys team drew 2-2 with Mackillop in an intense match. Then it was onto great success with a win of 6-2 against Truganini, (which really got the ball rolling), followed by a game against Chang where the boys team won again. A big highlight was our recent game against Winton in which a last minute interception secured the three points for Dunlop in a thrilling 6-5 win for the boys in purple.
The girls have also had great success this season with a 7-0 win over Mackillop, followed by a hotly contested 10-8 win over a fierce Truganini side, yet another victory coming in the side’s 6-1 win over Chang, and a thrilling 6-5 victory over Winton. We are looking forward to one final match and then hopefully a chance to compete in the Grand Final! A big thank you to our sports captain Sarah Costa and to all the players who volunteer to have a go and compete in the matches each week. Also thank you to the awesome tutor teachers, cluster coordinators and fellow Dunlop students for cheering on the sidelines!
