BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

THE ILLUMINATE NEXTGEN CHALLENGE

From 30th July to 3rd August, nineteen Year 10 and Year 11 Business Management Students participated in The illuminate: Nextgen Challenge, a week-long intensive entrepreneurial workshop, sponsored by Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, run by illuminate Education and supported by Deakin University.

In this workshop, students worked in teams to create a business that addressed a social need, and collaborated using professional tools such as Slack and Google Docs to solve problems creatively, create and conduct an elevator pitch, create a business model, conduct market research, create marketing materials including a logo, draft detailed financial statements and budgets, and present their projects at various stages to panels of professionals. All of this was done while juggling homework for six subjects. Students gained many skills for future professional work and each team won key awards based on the merits of the work they did. They are to be congratulated for their hard work.

The participants were Michael Davis, Bill Huynh, Anastasios Karadis, Andrew Kelly, Lian-Kim Gual Nam, Mai Le, Patrick Luker, Alexander Mackill, Riley Marshall, Suleyman Omar, Hailey Pham, Charlie Redmond, Alexander Smith, Cullen Smith, Yo Stevens, Mike Thouk, Gabe Veljanovski, Tony Vu and Samin Zahid.
