EXCEL Sport Program
3x3 Basketball Tournament U15
The Year 8 EXCEL Sport class competed in the 2017 Molten Under 15 3x3 Basketball Schools Challenge Tournament at the State Basketball Centre. PRSC entered two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams in the competition. Throughout the busy day, all teams played four round robin games against schools from all over Melbourne. One of the boys teams narrowly missed finals. The students were extremely supportive of each other and made significant improvements playing as a team. A fantastic experience.

Junior Girls Football
The Year 7 and 8 Junior Girls Football team headed to Lloyd Park in Langwarrin to compete against surrounding schools in a round robin tournament. For many of our girls it was the first time they had played football. PRSC played four games and early in the first game, we lost 3 players due to injury. Even with players dropping around us, the team rallied and started to tackle, run the ball and play in front. By the end of the day, we were playing an attacking brand of football and winning games. We won two games and finished third overall but the result was not a true reflection of the camaraderie and unity of our team on a steep learning curve. It was a pleasure to have these girls represent our school and compete until the final siren.

Victorian College Basketball Championships – Junior Division (14/6/17)
The Victorian College Championships is an open competition for all schools to compete in. Schools compete in selected regional qualifying tournaments at 5 different locations around Melbourne to progress through to the Championship Finals at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre. Patterson River Secondary College entered a boys and girls team in the Junior Division for Year 7 and 8 and competed at Dandenong Basketball Stadium. The two teams from the Year 7 EXCEL Sport program played 9 games throughout the day and steadily improved against much bigger opposition. A fantastic experience for the students who represented the school with distinction. A special mention to Mr Wakefield and Kerryn Mitchell for assisting with coaching the teams on the day.

2017 Netball Victoria School Championships. Junior Division
Patterson River Secondary College entered four teams in the Netball Schools Championships from the Year 7 and 8 EXCEL Sport Program. The tournament was held at the State Hockey and Netball Centre in Parkville and is open to Government, Catholic and Independent schools from around the state. Throughout the course of the day, our teams played a total of 26 games, each lasting 14 minutes. We also provided four umpires from our school community to assist in the running of the tournament. A special thank you to Andrew Love, Olivia Love (7H), Taylor Grimmer (10F) and Eve Mooney (8D) for giving up their time to umpire a full schedule throughout the day. It was a fantastic experience for all of the students, and while the results did not go our way, everyone experienced different positions and developed their netball skills. Thank you to Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Perpina for your tireless efforts throughout the long day.
