Senior School Formal

On Friday, 16 June, 320 VCE and VCAL students and their guests attended the 2017 Senior School Formal at the Longbeach RSL Function Centre at Chelsea. Our Senior School students elevated the concept of dressing to impress to a new level as the picture spread attests. Our students enjoyed a two course meal before getting down to the serious business of having their photos taken by the professional photographer in attendance so that they could have a perpetual reminder of just how good they looked on that evening. After meals and photos, students then dedicated themselves to dancing the night away to the music of the two professional DJs personally selected by the Year 12 students. Monday morning gossip confirmed that it was a wonderful evening thoroughly enjoyed by all those in attendance.

Fit2Drive

All year 11 students recently participated in The Fit2Drive Program that aims to reduce youth road trauma.  Students benefitted from the half-day workshop experience that supports pre-licenced drivers making good decisions when faced with risky driving situations, both as passengers, and in terms of their future driving safety.

Stories from Detention

At the end of Term 2, Year 12 Global Politics students visited the Melbourne Immigration Museum to attend ‘Stories From Detention’, a temporary exhibition that explores personal stories from people who have sought or are seeking, asylum and refuge in Australia. The excursion provided students with a deeper experience of the issues studied in Unit 4 that are relevant to the movement of people and the arising ethical debates on obligations to strangers versus national interests such as border security, the rights of refugees versus economic migrants, and disputes over refugee resettlement.

Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies - Adventure Camp

At the end of Term 2, Year 11 Outdoor Ed students completed their first camp out at Wonga Park. The camp itself was designed to challenge the students and take them out of their comfort zones. Activities undertaken while on camp included Caving, Rock Climbing, Abseiling and River Rafting along the Yarra River.  This camp is one of two curriculum camps for our Outdoor Ed students in the lead up to their Year 12 Grampians National Park Camp early next year if they choose to continue their studies in Outdoor and Environmental Studies.
