Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

On Monday I sent home an invitation to attend our special day of the year, the Parish/School Feast day. It would be absolutely wonderful to see families attend. After Mass we plan to have games and activities and a sausage sizzle for the children. We ask that parents please bring a plate to share, feel free to drop it off at the hall before Mass. At the Mass we will Commission Staff and Student Leaders. We look forward to your support.

Next Monday 17 February, we hold Parent/Teacher chats. This is an opportunity for you to meet teachers and get to know each other and a chance for parents to talk about their child. Bookings can be made on line: https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/admin/home?z=lMsblq

Children are settling into class routines, specialist programs commenced last week and a great session in Design Technology with Sally. Now it is time for you to get inloved and be a classroom helper. Teacher would welcome you approaching them. This week you will find a roster on each teachers door, so feel free to put your name down. A training session for parents will be held on 3 March at 9.15am and a repeat session at 2.30pm. Parents who have done the training previously are welcome to attend.

SCHOOL PHOTOS

You would have received you photo form informing you of packs available. All orders are to be completed online. Photo day is WEDNESDAY 19 FEBRUARY. Children must be in summer school uniform with black shoes. NO PE UNIFORM PLEASE! Prep children are required to be at school on this day.

WATER SAFETY PROGRAM

In Term 2 and 3 children will be attending a Water Safety Program at Collingwood Pool in Clifton Hill. This program is for 8 days over a 2 week period. The Victorian Curriculum F-10 requires schools to deliver swimming and water safety education as part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. This is a State Government requirement and therefore compulsory for all schools. A medical certificate must be presented if your child is unable to attend. On your account it appears as swimming, it is infact a Water Safety program but the computer says NO, when we try and change it!

Our Parents and Friends meeting on Monday was a great success.  We planned for 2020 and looked at ways in which we can involve families  and at the same time raise much needed funds for our children. We have just purchased Lego robitics for our design program and materials for 3D printing. Without the fund raising dollar, this would not be possible. We also plan to purchase new ipads for the juniors.

Advanced notice is given regarding School Closure Days for this Term. School will be closed on Thursday 27 Feb and Friday 28 Feb to allow

staff to work on developing new curriculum initiatives (i.e Collaborative learning). OSCH Club will run a program on both days providing there are sufficient numbers.
