Luca and I would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has been collecting their bread and wraps packaging for recycling. We have sent off our first full box to Wonder, and will be able to order sports equipment in exchange. Please keep collecting – we have until July 7 – so we can get as much sports equipment for recess and lunchtime as possible, whilst saving the planet a little too!
We would also like to thank everyone for joining in with our Nude Food efforts on Tuesdays – it is wonderful to see so many students with no rubbish in their lunchboxes on Tuesdays and other days too.
Our school veggie patch has produced lots of delicious snowpeas, cucumbers and tomatoes for the students to eat – students have enjoyed harvesting and each grade has been very excited when I have arrived at their door with a plate of freshly cut cucumber to share! We will plant some winter veggies soon, as the tomato and cucumber plants have nearly finished producing.
The year 3 and 4 students, as well as year 5 and 6 environmental team members, visited Currawong Bush Park today. This is a program just for Manningham schools, held in the natural surrounds of Currawong Bush Park. Students had the opportunity to connect with our natural environment, encounter local wildlife and participate in sustainability activities.
A series of activities were run throughout the day on the themes of waste and recycling, biodiversity, leadership and ecology.
