Please note there is an update to the excursion on Thursday 13 April. Due to the insufficient numbers for the museum, our Holiday Care educators will now be taking students to Sandy Bay Boat Park. For any questions please contact the College Office.

My Time, Our Place Version 2.0

Our Outside School Hours Care program plans are guided by the My Time, Our Place national framework. Recently, the Education Minister approved updates to the framework, parents can access the updated version of My Time, Our Place here. This version of the framework is Version 2.0.  Additionally, the Education Minister has announced the National Quality Framework will undergo some updates mid-2023. So Stay tuned to hear more about that!

The National Quality Framework contains standards that provide the Education and Care services around Australia a nation wide systematic approach to providing quality education to all children. The National Quality Standards help improve Early Childhood Education and School aged care programs with 7 Quality Areas. Throughout this year, I will be providing families with information on each quality area to help build a better understanding of Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten programs.

Quality Area 6-Collaborative partnerships with families and communities

Recently, I sent out a survey to OSHC and Kinder families seeking feedback on Quality Area 6. So what is Quality Area 6? Quality Area 6 is about building partnerships with families and communities to help improve learning outcomes for children. There are a number of standard elements to this quality area that help services achieve best practice.

As part of our Quality Improvement Plan we will be regularly seeking your feedback on our Education and Care programs to continue the ongoing improvement for the sole purpose of creative exceptional educational experiences for each individual.  If your child attends our Kindergarten or any of our OSHC programs we welcome you to complete the survey at your earliest convenience.

Relationships and Partnerships in Early Childhood

Children thrive when adults around them get along and work together. When positive discussions between adults about a child occur it provides each party the best opportunity to understand and know the child in more depth. This works particularly well for educators who plan and implement programs that need to cater for children’s individual needs, interests and abilities. Families know their children best, sharing knowledge with educators helps increase the meaningful experiences for children. Partnerships can help families and educators feel comfortable about sharing information with each other. Additionally, it is a great way to demonstrate how to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.

Kids Matter Australia/BeYou Suggest that positive partnerships involve:

  • everyone being equal and contributing in different ways
  • each person being valued and respected for what they think even if there are differences
  • listening and talking to each other
  • making an effort to understand and trust other people’s points-of-view
  • checking in with each other when making important decisions and staff following a parent’s or carer’s lead.
