Reflect and Reset

We often look back at events in our lives with a critical eye, analysing how things can be done better or differently.  However it is also important to look back on events or decisions with a positive lens,  and be proud of what we observe, even if there are also some learnings to be gained.

As we reflect on Term 1, we note what a hectic yet productive time it was, filled with a variety of activities and experiences. A lot of work went into creating and delivering these, and each of us should be very proud of the shared effort. There was much to enjoy, and much to muster courage for - on each occasion, there were many memorable moments.

The first day of term is sometimes filled with some trepidation, however, we have all come together as a Primary community to participate in a mix of pursuits. Each step we have taken has helped to build our combined confidence - moving from small, and perhaps hesitant steps towards a point where our stride has become more confident. Taking part in events and occasions has helped to strengthen our individual sense of being, and revealed to us the important role that each of us has in the broader College community.

From swimming carnivals, to representative sport opportunities, to leadership assemblies, and parent evenings; from critical learning to participating in NAPLAN, through to listening to guest presenters and showcasing talents at concerts. In each, our school values of courage, compassion, and justice have underpinned every aspect of our participation.

Now it is time to take stock, rest, and set the reset button on our reflections of the past term. There is a new term to chart, and our look in the rear view mirror will help us steer the direction each of us will take.

I wish all members of our Primary community a happy and holy Easter and look forward to seeing you all in Term 2 when we will continue our journey together.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Mary Aikenhead Award

A significant award presented to students is the Mary Aikenhead Award.  This award recognises someone who displays the Gospel values of love, hope, compassion and justice that Mary Aikenhead herself embraced.

As a College we encourage our students to reflect these values in their daily interactions and we congratulate Edwina Blakeway from 6 Navy who is the worthy recipient.

For the virtue of Compassion; for recognising the needs of others, showing concern and love for those whom she comes in contact with and always putting the needs of others before her own.  She is constantly aware of the wellbeing of others and will always look to support, lend a hand or open her arms to a peer in need.  Edwina not only lives the Gospel value of Compassion, she also embodies those of hope, love and justice, embraced by Mary Aikenhead.

Nominated by: Miss Katie Harper & Ms Melanie Sluyters

We thank Anne for her time, energy and joy she brings to our Primary.  The Year 4 students have been the winners here. As of Term 2, Mrs Susie Allan will take up the two days (Thursday and Friday), working alongside and supporting Ms Nicola Smith.
