Inspiration for Holiday reading

Easter holidays are shortly upon us, with many opportunities for relaxing with a book after the busy first term at school.
If you are searching for some inspiration in terms of authors for your children to try over the break, please explore the lists below. Even perhaps as an audio book in the car on a longer trip…? A children’s atlas is also another alternative for those who love factual texts.

St Cecilia’s School Library
We are so lucky at St Cecilia’s to have a well-stocked children’s library to visit and enjoy. All classes have a weekly timetabled session in our library with their classroom teacher, during which students are guided on the selection of books, welcome to browse the shelves and have a quiet read.
Students are allowed to borrow 2 books at a time, as long as they have their library bag with them (library bags are available to purchase online through our uniform supplier). Student loans last for 2 weeks.
Happy holiday reading, everyone!
Literacy Helpers Training Course
Wednesday March 3rd May, 2.30-3.20pm at school.
This is the last course we will run this year so please email Marnie Chapman at mchapman@scgleniris.catholic.edu.au to register your attendance.
This course will outline how helpers can assist students with literacy activities in the Foundation and Year 1 classrooms, and outline requirements for becoming a volunteer at school.
All helpers need to have attended this session prior to working in the classroom with students.
