Senior School Update

The Senior School have had a fantastic start back to Term 2! After a relaxing holiday break we have dived into some new topics and looked at what this term has in store for us.

In Literacy, students have been looking at the inquiry topic Civics and Citizenship. We have learnt how Australia has become a federation and what the voting process looks like. This term, students will have the opportunity to apply and vote for candidates for a Senior School learning community job. Students will apply as a representative, run a campaign and create a debate to persuade their peers they are the best person for the job. We wish them the best of luck with their campaign!

In Numeracy students are focusing on developing their understanding of fractions and decimal fractions. We have started by looking at a range of representations and will be working towards exploring the different ways we utilise fractions and decimal fractions in everyday life.

At the end of last term, the Senior School created a GEM wall to highlight our principles of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Students have already begun to share photos of the things in their life for which they are grateful. They have also brainstormed acts of kindness we can carry out during the school day to ensure our community is a positive place to be. If any parents would like to send through photos of the things their child is grateful for to put on our wall, please send on Compass to their teacher directly.

Today we have had our first winter interschool sports competition where students participated in AFL, Netball, Soccer and Tee ball. We had a great time hosting Pakenham Primary for our first round of matches in the lead up to Lightning Premiership.
