Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

Week 3

Prep L

Mark

for being a motivated and resilient learner who has been super focused during floor time and doing his best in all learning tasks! Mark has shown that he has already grown as a learner by demonstrating positive learning behaviours like never giving up, being a kind classmate and seeing mistakes as part of learning! Well done Mark! 

Prep N

Thodran

 

For being a resilient learner who is working hard to show his abilities even when situations seem challenging. Thodran repeatedly overcomes his worries to give technology, maths and writing challenges a go.  Well done Thodran! This is what it means to do your best and a little bit more.

Akul

For being acollaborative learner during our Mother's Day Liturgy planning session. Akul took on the role of leader, ensuring everyone had a say and that everyone's voice was heard. Akul wrote down everyone's ideas and assigned students accordingly. Thank you for organising your group fairly!

Casey

For being a focused and motivated learner who effectively limited distractions around him during independent writing. Casey set himself a goal to independently write, edit and publish a poem in the allocated time and was successful in doing so. It is inspiring to see you take charge of your learning and set goals that you want to achieve. Well done Casey, we are really proud of you!

For being a reflective learner who always takes on teacher feedback and tries her best to apply it in her work. Kelly consistently display positive learning dispositions and is a great role model. Keep up the fantastic work Kelly.

Aarav

For being a reflective learner who thinks deeply about the steps he needs to take in his learning journey. He listens to different options and then finds better ways to complete tasks. Aarav links new learning to what he already knows and sees mistakes as learning opportunities. Keep up the great learning, Aarav!

For being a reflective learner who takes on teacher feedback during reading workshops. Leah has been working hard to try new strategies while reading, and has been very successful using the “scooping strategy” to read with phrasing. Great work Leah!

For being a motivated learner. Your dedication and hard work in solving the area of hidden rectangles in maths have earned you this award. Keep up the excellent work and continue to achieve great things!

For being a reflective learner who has set a solid writing goal, reflected on her writing which has resulted in the most fabulous script for her upcoming podcast. Great work Samantha!

For being a reflective learner. You were able to identify and clearly articulate what you were finding challenging and how you can overcome these challenges. You were open to receiving feedback and applied it with a positive mindset. Keep up this positive and reflective attitude when you are feeling challenged. Fantastic work Mila!

For being a collaborative learner, who has excellent listening skills and can share her own ideas very effectively.  You are patient and encouraging, and can give and receive feedback extremely well.  You have the ability to successfully work with anyone in our class!  An example of this is when you worked  on making a team poster about feedback and shared it.   Thank you for being a valuable contributor to our class in so many ways Mary!

Emma 

For being a motivated learner who has been improving her stamina in writing and maths! Emma started the year being afraid to make mistakes or begin tasks but has recently been diving into every learning task with a ‘can do’ attitude! Well done Emma, we are so proud of you!

For being a motivated learner who always tries his best at learning tasks and gives everything a go. In Mathematics last week, Jamie challenged himself during the partition card number game. Jamie used resources around the room to help visualise the problem and help him reach success as a mathematician. Keep up the great work Jamie!

For being a motivated learner who is beginning to limit distractions around him in order to focus on his learning tasks. Ethan was focused during writing sessions this week where he created a cinquain poem on sharks. Ethan, your increased focus and attention during learning time has allowed you to do some great learning at school. Keep up that motivation to learn!

For being a motivated learner during mathematics sessions this week. She explored the connection between addition and subtraction and was able to share her thinking with her peers. Aadvi is always focused and ready to take on challenging learning tasks with a positive attitude! Well done!!

For being a curious learner who asks interesting questions about the world around him to clarify meaning and to deepen his learning. He makes connections during classroom discussions and shares related stories with his peers. Keep up the curiosity, Dyudith!

For being a curious learner during our visit to ACMI and the Aquarium. Darcy had a very inquisitive attitude throughout the day, and asked lots of questions that deepened the learning experience for all. Keep it up, Darcy!

For being a curious learner within inquiry learning. Aarush has a thirst for new knowledge as shown by his interesting questions on our excursion. He is invested in his inquiry learning, even continuing his research in his spare time at home!

For being a motivated learner who is trying his best and a little bit more in all learning areas. You have demonstrated this during challenging maths tasks and responding to questions during class discussions. Your hard work is a reflection of your progress, keep up the fantastic effort.

You look for new strategies to try and seek support from peers and the teacher when necessary. You demonstrated this during our challenging maths tasks this week. For being a resilient learner,  who is flexible, determined and never gives up. You  bounce back when learning difficulties arise  - an example of this is when you made a great podcast even though you had a few challenges when you were recording it!  Please keep up your positive approach to learning Akshay!

For being a resilient learner who encountered a problem and was able to explain what the problem was and come up with solutions to the problem.  He was then able to successfully complete his work.
