7 SEAL Creative Stories
During Term 1, both Year 7 SEAL classes have analysed a series of short, suspenseful stories to identify key elements including narrative structure; foreshadowing; showing not telling; dramatic irony; and using punctuation to enhance our writing. From this analysis, the students then applied their knowledge to creating their own suspenseful story, with everyone producing interesting narratives! To share their masterpieces, both classes participated in a ‘speed reading’ activity, rotating around the class, to allow the stories to be read to a variety of peers. After reading their stories, students gave each other constructive feedback and graded them against the assignment rubric. Well done to all of the students involved, I am sure there is a JK Rowling in this bunch!
