Walkathon

Our annual Walkathon is fast approaching, with many becoming excited about the prizes available in recognition of fundraising efforts. All funds raised will go towards enhancing the outdoor basketball courts of the multi-purpose play area, which is very popular with students at each break time. Families are encouraged to join the Walkathon and enjoy the fun of walking through the Gallipoli Barracks, notching up 15,000 steps across the 10km! All walkers other than students will need to register for the event. If walking isn't your preference, you're very welcome to assist our P&F Association as one of the many volunteers required for the day. Please keep an eye out for communication from our P&F Association with respect to non-student registration and volunteering on the day. Pastoral

Group Photos Pastoral

Pastoral Group Photos will take place during school time next Monday 8 May. Please be sure to have your son prepared for this occasion with both their grooming and uniform. Winter uniform will apply, with Year 5, 11, and 12 continuing to require blazers at school on this day.

School Photo Update

This year the College has partnered with Beyond School Photos for co-curricular photos, Pastoral Group photos and individual portraits. When ordering photos from Beyond School Photos, parents and guardians will require a Unique Access Key for each student they wish to purchase photos for. The College experienced technical difficulties when emailing Unique Access Keys to parents and guardians on Friday afternoon resulting in some parents not receiving the email. The College will distribute physical letters to all students tomorrow morning via Pastoral Group/Primary classes which will contain Unique Access Keys. Students will be advised to take the letters home for parents and guardians. Please do not hesitate to contact Sharon Ortiz (ortizs@marash.qld.edu.au) if you need assistance with your son’s unique access key.

Travel Pick-up and Drop-Off

With a concentration of sport training occurring before and after school, it's imperative each of us meet our responsibilities with respect to parking restrictions. Please ensure you follow all signed parking instructions. By way of example, parking over yellow lines along the Glenlyon Road exit to the College causes much congestion and is unsafe for our students, neighbours and other drivers. Additionally, weekend events at the College create a demand for parking in neighbouring streets which impacts our neighbouring community. Again, please be respectful of all parking restrictions and limitations, in addition to being generally courteous with your parking.

The College has received a notification from Brisbane City Council regarding some planned environmental works commencing this week along Glenlyon Drive. This may impact your travel to and from the College. Please take the time to review the information (QR code) from Council to see how these works will affect your daily commute.

Child Protection Officers

As part of our faith basis, duty of care obligations and legislative requirements, Marist College Ashgrove is committed to providing a safe environment to all students and to uphold their best interests and wellbeing.

With this in mind, the College has seven Child Protection Officers whom staff, parents and students can report any instances of considered inappropriate behaviour by staff, parents or other students. Should you or your son want to report any kind of inappropriate behaviour, you may do so either in person or via one of the email addresses below.

If you or your son would like to speak to a counsellor about any kind of concerning behaviour or general personal safety or mental health matters, we also have the Reach Out Portal tile on both the Parent and Student Portals. This will take you to a form you may complete that is received by the College Counsellors who will follow up accordingly.

Have Your Family Circumstances Changed?

To ensure you are receiving communications from the College, please log into Parent Lounge to check and update your Address Details.  These details can be found under the Parent Address menu.

As part of this process, we ask that you please check, update or add an Alternate Emergency Contact for your family.  This person will be contacted should you be unavailable in case of an emergency.

Where there has been a family separation and parents now reside at different addresses, please be aware we can effectively manage separate contact details on our system without compromising communication regarding your son. In the case of separated families, it would be ideal to have an Emergency Contact listed for each parent.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you need help navigating any changes (including new family court orders or conditional communication) through the Parent Portal. Our Data Management Office, Linda Pettit is available to support you in this area. Email: pettitl@marash.qld.edu.au or Phone:  07 3858 4508.

A reminder to parents and guardians to please refer to the College App Calendar for the most up-to-date event information. The App Calendar is updated weekly with any changes or additions as they occur.
