Years 5 - 7 Marist Drama

As we move into Week 3 of Term 2, Marist Drama is in full swing for 2023. This co-curricular activity takes place on Monday afternoons for participating Year 5 and 6 students under the direction of Ms Louise Marshall. Students have been given the opportunity to develop drama skills such as improvisation, characterisation, play-building, movement, storytelling, and stagecraft. Each lesson is designed to be fun and allow the boys to gain confidence in public speaking as well as learning to speak and interpret texts expressively. These students are working towards a performance in Term 4, with each year group performing a one-hour show in the Draney Theatre with all costumes and props provided. This performance will be open to parents and friends of students. The confirmed date and booking information for this performance will be communicated closer to the beginning of Term 4. They will also perform during school at a date to be arranged for the whole primary school.

The Year 7 boys successfully completed their module on dynamic movement and produced a short film performance entitled 'Little Susie', which has now been edited and will be viewed and distributed to the class next week. This term has been impacted by various circumstances; however, there are sufficient numbers to continue, and the boys will commence for the term this week. The boys will be writing, shooting, performing, and producing an original short film and will be honing their acting to camera skills.
