The 2023 Young Voices Awards are brought to you in conjunction with Australian Catholic University.
The YVA theme for 2023 is ‘Climate for change’. The competition is open to secondary school and senior primary school students – Junior (Years 5 and 6); Intermediate (Years 7 to 9); or Senior (Years 10 to 12). Teachers are encouraged to incorporate this theme into classroom planning so that students can submit their assessment to the competition or interested students can submit original projects individually.
Each section has three entry categories: articles, photographs and digital (video or podcast). This year, prizes will be awarded for each category. A selection of the best entries will appear in the magazine (with permission from the creator and their parents).

The Robocup Jr Horsham event is here again and is being held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran College on Friday, June 2nd, 2023.
If you are interested in learning about robotics and programming and trying your hand at challenges involving robots then come along and have a go. It is a fun, competitive day with students from other schools attending.
Last week, Mrs van Dyk's VCE Business Management class were in the kitchen to learn about business operations. The students had to plan the inputs, outputs, processes involved in making a morning tea, as well as focusing on time management, waste minimization and OH&S practices.
Well done to St Brigid's College students Isaac, Nate, Ella and Bethany in HAC - Horsham Arts Council's production of Seussical the Musical, hitting the stage at the Horsham Town Hall!
There has been lots happening in the science rooms lately at St Brigid's! Here are some highlights:
- Year 8/9 Forensics completing a 'who done it?' by simulating blood typing
- Year 8 Science practicing using microscopes
- Year 11 Biology studying unique plant cells and systems
- Year 12 Biology modelling DNA and RNA

This week, Mrs Cross' Year 7 Japanese class learnt about Children's Day, a public holiday in Japan that marks the end of the period known as Golden Week. The day is celebrated by the flying of koinobori flags and kites made in the shape of carp fish, which look as if they are swimming when they flutter in the breeze.
Our Bright Sparks program kicked off this week with Grade 4, 5, & 6 students from primary schools across the Wimmera, joining us for our fun and free workshops!
Here is some of the action from the Junior Detectives, iRobots, Happy Chefs, Basketball Academy, Printmaking and Wizards of Wood workshops! We look forward to seeing the students back next Wednesday afternoon!
