Principal's Report

Mr Gerard Raven

Dear families,

I would like to begin this update by recognising and thanking all mothers and those providing maternal support to our students and staff. In today’s prayer, there is reference to mothers loving ‘not perfectly, but humanly’. This thought recognises that none of us are perfect, and that judgement of others should be avoided as we all parent in unique ways. Last week, I spoke of the V.U.C.A world our children will be entering and how we can best prepare them for this. Mothers (and Fathers) do a great job in protecting their children and knowing when is the right time to ‘cut the apron strings’ is never easy, yet essential to develop their resilience for when we cannot be around.

The latest thinking in education, positions parents as not just the first educators of their children, but the ‘first learners’ – demonstrating to their children that lifelong learning is critical in our ever changing world. We too, as teachers also need to demonstrate this and on Friday 12 May, the staff will have time to undertake professional development as we plan for 2024 and beyond.

On Thursday 4 May, it was wonderful to see the St Brigid’s VCE staff meet with the Holy Trinity Lutheran College VCE staff to begin a professional networking community where ideas, resources and excursions can be shared to enhance the learning of all students. We will continue this partnership in an ongoing formal and informal manner.

God bless all our Mums.

Stay Safe,

Gerard Raven
