Easter holiday reading and guessing competition!

During the last week of term, we encouraged students and staff to borrow a book for the holidays and then have a guess at how many chocolate treats were in the container, with the winner notified at the end of lunch on Thursday.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) 2023 Year 7-10

As a reminder, the PRC runs from 28 February 2023 to 18 August 2023.  If you are yet to sign up for the PRC, contact your English teacher or put your name down at the library counter on the PRC sign-on sheet and we will pass it to the English Leader of Learning Mrs. Burke; the McCarthy College PRC coordinator.

If you are looking for books to read for the PRC, come to the library counter and ask the library staff.  You can also access the McCarthy library from home.  We have the 2023 PRC Reading lists in our Oliver Library Catalogue for students to browse. To access these lists you will need to:

  • Log into McCarthy Library Oliver as usual.
  • Select “Reading Lists” from the top tabs.
  • Scroll down the lists to the Premier's Reading Challenge 2023.
  • Select the lists you wish to view.

Celebrating National Clean Up Australia Day

On March 7 the library in conjunction with the Environmental Club celebrated National Clean Up Australia Day with a book display, promoting fantastic library resources on sustainability and climate change. Students and teachers also came down to the library to make a pledge to promote and inspire others to take action to improve the environment. The pledges were then displayed in the library for students and teachers to view.
