Body Kind
Being kind to ourselves and our bodies is so important, especially as we progress through school. Our body image is formed by the thoughts, attitudes, feelings, and beliefs we have about how we look and our bodies. It’s completely normal to feel many things about our body and appearance. Sometimes we may feel satisfied/positive, sometimes dissatisfied/negative, sometimes both! Either way, our body image can impact how we engage with the world around us. Therefore, it is so important to build a positive body image.
Some ways we can do this is by:
- Appreciating your body for what it can do
- Making fewer body comparisons
- Speaking to your body in a way that’s kind and extending this to other bodies too
- Moving your body in ways you enjoy
- Being grateful for the food and drink choice we have
- Being thoughtful of our meals, appreciating nourishment we receive from what we eat
It is important to practise self-compassion, take a break and realise no body is perfect!
