Primary School
We would like to welcome all our families back to what already proves to be another exciting and busy term. A special welcome to our new students; Angela, Alfie, Gracie and their families as they settle into our school community. On the first day back, all staff were involved in a Staff Professional Learning Day. The day involved a collaborative workshop, led by our Principal Mr Scott Downward and in addition, staff were allocated time for collaborative planning and curriculum development. The teachers in Stages 2 and 3 used this time to plan for the upcoming new English and Mathematics syllabus which will be implemented in all NSW schools from 2024.
In staff updates, we would like to welcome Casey Frew and Paige Pinson to the Primary team. Casey will replace Lauren Williams who will start her maternity leave next week on Tuesday 9 May. We wish Lauren and Dave all the best as they prepare for the arrival of their little bundle of joy and we look forward to welcoming their little bub into our School community.
Casey Frew is an experienced teacher and she will work in a fulltime capacity as the classroom teacher of 3A until the end of the year. Paige graduated from Moama Anglican Grammar in 2017 and after spending three years at Victoria University to study Primary Teaching, Paige took on a soccer scholarship in the last 12 months. Paige is joining the Teacher Aide team where she supports students in all stages on Monday and Friday.
Kinder Parent Reading Information Session and Workshops
It is important to read with your child on a daily basis. At Moama Anglican Grammar, we recognise the valuable part you, as parents, play in helping your child learn to read. To help close the gap between reading at home and at school, an information session and two practical workshops were held. Both the information session and the workshops were to promote a shared understanding of the reading process and to encourage consistent language throughout the school. We thank you for your commitment in supporting your child/ren at home in collaboration with their Kinder teacher.
Primary Assembly
It was great to connect at the Primary School Assembly on Friday 28 April. Congratulations to the Year 6 Chanter House Captains; Ruby Whitelegg and Harvey van Haaster on running their first Assembly. We enjoyed some beautiful performances on the piano by Roslyn Francis, Isabella Davidson and Fletcher Smith and we are all very proud of our performers who did a great job. If your child is interested in our Extra-Curricular Music Program, please visit our website for more information and an enrolment application.
This year, each year level will prepare an item to present at one of our Primary Assemblies. At the Assembly on Friday, the Year 2 cohort shared their favourite work from Term 1 and performed the Adjective Song. We look forward to our next Assembly on Friday 26 May when the Year 1 cohort will perform for us.
In addition, we celebrated those students who were awarded their Core Value Award. Core Value Awards are awarded to students who consistently display one or more of the school’s core values and motto. Congratulations to the students below. Keep up the great work!

ANZAC Day Services
On ANZAC Day, we remember the supreme sacrifice of those who have gone before us. We remember the true mateship, loyalty and courage with which our ANZAC soldiers served. It is also a time when we reflect on our current serving personnel and their families as we stand to commemorate the brave men and women who continue to fight for our freedom on the front line in war zones and peacekeeping missions around the world.
Our school community would like to acknowledge and thank those students and families who attended local and surrounding district Anzac commemorative services, proudly representing our school. Special thanks to the P&F who created lovely wreaths for the services and to our staff who kindly gave up their time to support our students.
Our School commemorative ANZAC service was held on Wednesday 26th April and our school leaders and music performers did an amazing job with our local distinguished special guest Mr Ken Jones (ex-service) who served in the Vietnam War in 1967 -1968. Mr Jones is the President of the Moama RSL Sub Branch and President of the Vietnam Veterans and we thank him for his continued support of our school.
Foundation Day
Today, on Friday 5 May, the School celebrated its 19th Foundation Day. Foundation Day is where we celebrate where our school began and where it is now. On May 5th, the first meeting took place by the original group of people who decided that we needed a Secondary School in Moama. We thank all our special guests for their attendance and Sophie Douglas’ address to the community.
Campaspe Primary School Soccer Competition
Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 students competed today in the Campaspe Primary School Soccer Competition, held at Jack Eddy oval. All four teams did an outstanding job. The two Year 5 teams both played in the grandfinal with one team coming in first and the other coming second. The two Year 6 teams both played in the semi -final and won; both teams came in third. What a great day of soccer for MAG!
Smart Watches
We have seen an increase in the number of students who wear a Smart Watch whilst being at school. In most cases, the intent for wearing a Smart Watch is to read the time, which is obviously appropriate. When students use their Smart Watch during the day for any other intent; contacting a parent or a friend, the same rules apply as set out in the Student Use of Mobile Phones policy. We ask that parents familiarise themselves with this policy. This policy can be found on page 32 of the School Handbook.
After School Arrangements
- For those students catching one of our late buses, the after-school supervision has changed from the Resource Centre to the Middle School.
- Students in Kinder to Year 2 will be allowed to play on the equipment but only after their parents have collected them from the classroom teacher, at which point the responsibility is transferred back to the parent who is required to actively supervise their child/ren.
- If students are not collected from the classroom by 3:15pm, they are sent to the Primary School office where parents can collect them.
- Supervision after 3:15pm is not available and those parents who are unable to collect their child before this time, are encouraged to contact School’s Out, our onsite Outside of School Hours Care provider.
