This week we have been at the Dowerin Field Days catching-up with our current, past and future families. We continue our meetings with our Boarding families next week with visits to Eneabba and Quairading to host evenings with our incoming Year 7, 2020 students. This is done under the program of TransitUs, a partnership program with St Brigid’s College that aims to create a smooth transition for incoming Year 7 students to boarding.
Our Youth Making the Right Choices - Seminar Opportunity for Parents
On Monday the 23 September, the College will be hosting an evening presentation for Year 9 and 10 parents by Peter Lyndon-James. Peter is the founder of Shalom House, Australia’s strictest drug rehabilitation centre. He will present a personal story, his experiences of helping families who have been impacted by illegal drug use and key messages we all should be receptive to in helping our youth make the right decisions. The seminar forms a part of the College’s overall wellbeing program. Please refer to information further on our Facebook page for details to register attendance. It is an adult-only event as our young men in Year 9 and 10 will receive their own seminar from Peter the following day.
When we think of a father, who comes to mind exactly? For the great majority of us it is our dad, but there are so many wonderful people who have, or do, live that father-figure role in our lives. With the celebration of Father’s Day this Sunday, we wish all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers and those who are father-figures a very happy Father’s Day. When a child is baptised, the father receives a special blessing. They are words which any father, or father-figure, can reflect upon in the gift of fatherhood.
God is the giver of all life, human and divine. May he bless the father of this child. With his wife, he will be the first teacher of this child in the ways of the faith. May they also be the best of teachers, bearing witness to the faith by what they say and do.
