Before School Care

When our school took over the running of Outside of School Hours Care, the introduction of Before School Care was a priority, due to a number of parents requesting such a service. In the early days numbers were generally between 1 and 6, but have steadily grown to the current situation where typically there are 15-20 students attending each morning.

So what happens at Before School Care?  The service commences at 6:30am, but children are dropped off at a range of times.  As children arrive they head into the kitchen with a Base 1270 staff member to make some breakfast. Our staff are in tune what the children like to eat, so have a range of healthy options on offer.

Once a child has finished their breakfast, they’re able to exercise some choice and decide an activity they’d like to join.  They can join an organised activity led by one of the Educators, or just choose something else that they like to do.  Most of the students are looking for something quiet to do as they gradually ready themselves for the day, while others enjoy a run around in the gym when it gets closer to the start of the school day.

Before School Care always concludes with a wander up to see Tracey or Terri in the canteen, where they are treated to a hot chocolate.

So what do the kids think about Before School Care?

Ella T – “ I love having Before School Care. I enjoy it because we get to do an activity of our choice. It’s the best”

Tyler L – “I enjoy Before School Care because there is breakfast”

Places are available for Before School Care, so contact Mel in the general office if this service is of interest to you.

Base 1270 Report

This week we had a superdraw from our Base 1270 positive behaviour raffle ticket box. A big congratulations to Ella J, Mia H, Abbymay F, Fraser D, Violet-Rose F, Mila S, Max C, Julian C and Jy P who are the winners of the PBS certificates. Keep leading the way in displaying the school values and our Base 1270 rules and expectations. The Educators as well as our Base 1270 Captains are always looking to praise and reward those who are doing the right thing.

The planning for the September vacation care program is underway. The program will be running in the first week of the September school holidays. Please remember to confirm your booking prior to the vacation care program.

There will be some changes happening over the next couple of weeks, particularly for after school care. Stay tuned!

We look forward to seeing you all this week!
