Learning in J06

Junior School J06 Landolfo is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

Throughout Term 2, J06 have found fun and enjoyment in learning!

As a part of our Inquiry Unit on Chemical Science, we were lucky enough to have ‘Mad About Science’ come to Pakenham Springs Primary School and present ‘Chemistry Chaos’ to the Year One students.  We got to participate in different experiments including mixing cabbage water with vinegar, baking soda and water to make different colours and growing ‘Orbeez’ which we got to take home!  We got to use some laboratory equipment and learnt all about what chemicals are and the difference between natural and man-made chemicals.  You can see how much fun we had!!

In class, we have been writing some interesting Procedural Texts including ‘How to Make Fairy Bread’, ‘How to Decorate a Biscuit’ and ‘How to Grow a Beanstalk’! We are learning to follow the Procedural Text structure and include a title, aim or goal, materials or ingredients, method or steps and a recommendation. We had to make sure we had all our materials and ingredients ready and follow the steps really closely to complete our procedures correctly.   We also had lots of fun eating our creations too!!

We will be watching our beans closely to see how quickly they grow over the next few weeks.

J06 would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday!
