SSV State Cross Country
Brentwood had fantastic representation at the SSV State cross country last week. We had an amazing 18 runners qualify to compete; including two teams! The determination and talent of our students together with hard work allowed each of our runners to perform at their best. Many of the runners had run PB times, placed higher than last year, qualified for the state event for the first time, and enjoyed the level of competition and atmosphere that comes with competing with the best in Victoria within the SSV program.
Cross country is not just an individual event. Each Division and Region also send the best ‘school team’ of four students to compete. Brentwood had two teams this year; 13 boys team and the 15 boys team. The 13 boys team placed 7th on the day and the 15 boys team were State Runners Up! Both great achievements.
13 boys team - Alex Vujmilovic, Max Taborsky, Joshua White, Jordan Gilbert (injured)
15 boys team - Josh Jensen, Luke Molinaro, Ryan Coulter, Brayden Ryan, Sebastian Eitzen (injured) & Lachlan Williamson (injured)

What’s on in Term 3?
After a very successful term 1 & 2, I am keen to see how Brentwood goes in the second half of the year. We had an amazing 42 teams qualify for the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) competitions that take place at different stages throughout the entire year. Brentwood has already been to SSV State finals in Tennis, Softball, Lawn Bowls, Diving & Golf! We have teams taking the next step to compete at EMR in basketball, badminton, AFL, soccer, cricket, baseball, volleyball, hockey, and netball.
We are very lucky at Brentwood to have teachers who coach teams. Teachers volunteer their time to give Brentwood students opportunities to be team members, make new friends and learn new skills. The staff coaches are supported by many students who help coach the teams. Student coaching offers leadership opportunities to many students at Brentwood. The support and enthusiasm within these student coaching roles is greatly appreciated by the teaching staff.
Brentwood students in year 7 to 10 have the opportunities to try out for basketball, table tennis and hockey in term 3. The intermediate round robin day is on Thursday August 15, and the junior round robin day is on Wednesday September 11.
As the weather is cold, students need to be wearing navy track suit pants, Brentwood rugby jumpers or spray jackets. Please ensure your child has the correct uniform for the winter months.
Athletics
Interschool athletics is also fast approaching. On Tuesday August 27, Brentwood will be sending a strong team of athletes to compete at the Monash Division athletics carnival. Training has begun for the relay team members and distance events. All information is available on the sports whiteboard in the gym.
Missing Uniforms
I am looking for those special Brentwood uniform tops, dresses, pants and socks that have been take home by accident and forgotten about. They may be hiding under a bed or inside a wardrobe, but I would like to get them back. Bentwood has netball dresses, soccer/hockey tops, athletics singlets, basketball tops, AFL jumpers, softball/baseball pants, and navy socks. If you have any of these uniform items, please return to Brentwood asap. Please drop them off at the main office or the PE office – no questions will be asked.
Have a great term & Go Brentwood!
