Highlights of the last Fortnight

Pedal Prix

On Sunday 28 July 2019 our hard-working junior and senior pedal-prix students competed at Victoria Park in their second event for 2019. Excellent organisation by Mr Jason Schulz and his team, mechanical and design preparation by Mr Clint Giggins, excellent support from old scholar James Leigh, coupled with wonderful back-up support from a large team of students and parents, led to another successful and exciting event.

Primary Assembly

It was delightful to be present last week at the Year 5-led Primary Assembly where our Pedal Prix teams were celebrated.   Congratulations and thanks to all involved.

The Year 5 class presented a most creative, entertaining and joyful representation of the Parable of the Lost Son. Hearty congratulations to Mr Jones and his enthusiastic students!

Pastors’ Morning Tea

On Wednesday last week we were honoured to welcome a number of pastors of our regional churches to our annual Pastors’ Morning Tea. It was a special opportunity for us all to celebrate and discuss our joint ministries in sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in our communities and in our School.

We were blessed by the presence and comments of Mrs Meredith Lockery (Director of Leaning across our three Tyndale campuses) and Mrs Danielle Hohneck (Director of Marketing and Community Relations). Mrs Anne Bryant prepared a magnificent table for us all and, as always, made possible a beautiful opportunity to enjoy a morning of special fellowship.

Special appreciation also goes to Mrs Jessica Leslie (our Year 6 Teacher) for the donation of her magnificently made and decorated “Tyndale” sponge cake for the occasion.

We are delighted that the Strathalbyn Interchurch Youth Group includes a number of our Tyndale students. The pastors noted that Christian Schools have a key role to play in sharing the Good News to this generation of children.

Community Youth Projects

I am extremely proud of our involvement in a program under the banner of the Strathalbyn Local Drug Action Team.  With 2 groups of  Tyndale students successful with their $2,000 grant applications, we look forward to supporting their ventures.

Our Tyndale model train group, led by our former scholar, James Leigh (now teacher in training), was one of the successful groups to have been granted $2000, with a plan to create and run a community event to raise funds to support the Salvation Army. The focus is on helping the homeless and to support victims of drug and alcohol addiction.

This event will be set up in the Strathalbyn Town Hall and will be operated by current Tyndale students in the 12 – 18 year age range.

We wish our student teams every success in their wonderful community ventures.

Blessings,

Nigel Croser
