We Celebrate
School life is filled with excitement and achievement.
This week has brought some special highlights – in no particular order of significance:
Nathan Wright (Year 6)
Nathan is displaying the 19 ribbons that he helped his aunty (Mrs Helen Wright) to win at the Royal Adelaide Show. He helped at the Macclesfield farm in the management of the sheep. At the Show he carried out daily feeding and grooming of the prized animals, cleaned their holding yards and led them around the judging ring.
Congratulations Nathan!
Troy Pudney (Year 8)
Troy is shown here wearing his gold medal (blue ribbon) awarded recently to the South Australian Under 14 Champion in the field of “Freestyle Wrestling”.
The red ribbon carries the National Under 14 Silver Medal which he won in Sydney earlier this year.
What a champion!! (And, after his performance in Hair Spray this week, what a versatile champion!)
Hair Spray - the musical
I was thrilled last night to witness the outstanding performance of our students in the exciting and brilliantly presented Musical – “Hair Spray”. It was a most joyous celebration of humour and musical entertainment with a profound underlying theme of dignity for all.
At the end we all reflected on the enormous body of work that Mr Ian Colley, our Performing Arts director, has overseen in his six years at Tyndale. The Musicals include:
Les Miserables
Hair Spray (twice)
Mary Poppins
Little Women
Annie
Bring It On
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Sound of Music
Matilda (performed for the first time in an Australian school)
This represents some 30 performances, which are in addition to the 22 music nights, drama performances and numerous trips with students to the Mildura Eisteddfods, with excellent results.
We thank Ian for his outstanding contributions to the life of the school and wish him every success in his new school in Sydney next year.
Blessings,
Nigel Croser
