Child Safety

Keeping our children safe

On the 1st of August, all teachers attended a refresher on the protocols and requirements CHPS has in place to maintain a child safe environment. One of the ways our school maintains this environment is by implementing the Victorian Child Safe Standards across our Curriculum. The Child Safe Standards are compulsory standards for all schools and early childhood settings to adhere to.

The Child Safe Standards aim to:

- Promote the safety of children

- Prevent child abuse

- Ensure organisations and businesses have effective processes in place to respond to

and report all allegations of child abuse.

Child Safe Standards work by:

Driving changes in organisational culture – embedding child safety in everyday thinking and practice

Providing a minimum standard of child safety across all organisations

Highlighting that we all have a role to keep children safe from abuse

At Clifton Hill Primary School one of the ways we are embedding a Child Safe culture is through our Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct. As part of our commitment to the Child Safe Standards, we have developed a curriculum document outlining child safety content to be addressed in each year level. In our meeting on 1st August, staff were given an opportunity to read and discuss this document.
