House Cross Country

It was great to see quite a few LaSalle students across Years 10 to 12 put their hand up to represent the 'green machine' in the House Cross Country competition on Friday 26 August.

Some stand-out performances included Levi Wonnacott (Yr10), Will Pearson (Yr11), Tommy Lomango (Yr11), Liam Higgins (Yr12), Dash McMaster (Yr12) and Sean Grella (Yr12), who all qualified to represent the College at the ACC Cross Country Carnival on Thursday 8 September.

While only a 3km course, with the start being on the sand and some serious hills thrown into the mix, it is by no means an easy run. Well done to the above students in particular, and all others who participated on the day, each gaining points for the coveted Beda Shield.

House Music

2022 saw the long awaited return of the House Music competition, which did not run in 2021 due to COVID lockdowns. It saw bands from each of the four houses battling it out for the title. Each group played two songs and was judged on areas such as audience engagement, vocals, band dynamics and costumes/best dressed.

The LaSalle students started off strong with a very entertaining rendition of ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS, which included an amazing saxophone solo played by Max Hutson. This was followed up by a crowd-pleasing cover of Spacey Jane’s ‘Feeding the Family’.

There was some stiff competition put up by the other three houses, and in the end it came down to a two-point difference between LaSalle and Benilde, with the LaSalle group taking home the win.

Congratulations to Leighton Miller (vocals), Harry Griffin (guitar), Max Hutson (saxophone), Alex Nanfra (drums), Lewis Desmond (keyboard, triangle and cowbell), Angus Larkins (bass) and Charlie Clarkson (guitar) for their competition-winning performance!
