Principals Report

Every day matters

Our students have settled into the routine of Semester 2 effortlessly. While it has  been a busy time with the inter-school sports, debating competitions, cultural day preparations, course counselling for all year levels and parent information sessions, it has been a very positive term so far.

After a very successful parent information evening for new families last week, the subject selection process for 2023 is now well underway.

It was so pleasing to be able to welcome such a large group of new community members. As a new school that opened up during the pandemic, this was the first time we filled our lecture theatre, in fact we overfilled it.

Year 10 and 11 students have worked through a series of tasks which have been specifically designed to assist students to make informed subject choices. At Homestead, we create our timetable based on student choice, this then informs our workforce plan. It is so important that students are able to make the very best decisions at this time and we are confident they have.

Every Day Matters- Be Innovative

Innovation is the one of our values and represents Harcourt House. Students and teachers have co-designed our Term 3 Every Day Matters poster to encourage our school community to “Be Innovative”.  The key message when developing the themes around innovation was to encourage each other to think outside the box, improve upon what we are already doing and being the change, we wish to see in the world.

It has also been great to finally have installed some of our values signage around the school. This was designed with our college captains and our then school council president, Danielle Rowe.

It is a great to be able to showcase the values that our college hold dearly.

Staffing

This term we have welcomed Gurleen Sahni to the team. Gurleen is teaching mathematics and physics. Sowmya Ravi has also joined the team and is working in the student support team.

It is also great to be able to welcome a group of student teachers to Homestead, we currently have 7 student teachers working with our students and staff.
