Number Talks - 5/6 Blazing Comets!

Students swapping their problem with their peers to solve each other's work.

Students using their mathematical thinking to show another example of alike and different.

Did you know that a number talk is a way to recognise, create and describe patterns with number?

Also, it develops mental strategies and computational fluency based on understanding and helps students build capacity to become flexible and efficient mathematical thinkers and confident communicators.

Students worked together to come up with their own problem on what is alike or different.

Here is an example of a number talk that you can do with your child at home.  Ask them how can they solve 25 x 16 mentally?  How many ways can they show their answer?

Students are showing when they are ready to share their answers and the strategy, they used by placing their hands at chest level and giving a "thumbs up".
