3/4 Wavelength

with Ms Ward

WALT (we are learning to) measure and record the area of 2D shapes using square centimetres and square metres.  TIB (this is because) good mathematicians use their learning to solve everyday problems.

This term 3/4 Wavelength have been learning about measurement and have focused on finding the area of 2D shapes.

Students used rulers to record the lengths of the sides of the rectangles and used multiplicative thinking to find the area.

Students used various strategies such as repeated addition, skip counting and known multiplication facts to find the area.

Using our new learning, 3/4W designed a floor plan for their dream house, calculating the area for each room and adding them together to get the total area.

Fantastic learning from all students and great start to the term!
