Winter for coughs and colds
If you have a cold, you should follow these tips to help prevent spreading it to other people:
- Stay at home while you are sick and keep children out of school while they are sick.
- Avoid close contact with others, such as hugging, kissing, or shaking hands.
- Move away from people before coughing or sneezing.
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue then throw it away, or cough and sneeze into your upper shirt sleeve, completely covering your mouth and nose.
- Wash your hands after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects, and doorknobs.
Reminder: MOBILE PHONE POLICY
The Department of Education does not permit student use of mobile phones in public schools unless for medical or teacher directed educational purpose. Students are permitted to be in possession of their mobile phone during the school day, however, mobile phones must be turned off and away. Students are to put their smart watches in ‘aeroplane mode’ so phone calls and messages cannot be sent or received during the school day. Mobile phones for students can be stored in their lockers or dormitories.
Mobile phones are a useful tool for students to keep in contact with family and in the event of an emergency. The College recognises the need for students to possess and use mobile phones for both personal and educative purposes however for the duration of the school day they are to be turned off and away. Students are welcome to ask to use a College phone if they need to contact parents during the day and parents are encouraged to call the College if they need to speak with their child or need a message given to them.
